Ford Kendrick is a genuine nice guy, trying to do the best he can for his family, ranch, and the woman he loves, even when he sends her away for her own good. It’s a sacrifice he’s willing to make for her happiness. But when she returns broken in heart and soul, he’ll do everything he can, even if it’s to just be the friend she desperately needs. Ford isn’t about to give up on Jamie until she’s well and happy again. His patience, unwavering dedication to her recovery, and steadfast resolve to push her to be better and give her a helping hand when things don’t go her way all help Jamie to overcome her obstacles. But it’s his love through the good times and bad that bring them back together.

He wanted to be the beacon in her life that brought her back from the dark world her memories sucked her into every second of the day. He wanted to give her everything they’d talked about and planned back when things were simple and easy between them. Now, just getting her to eat seemed a complicated maneuver to convince her he meant no harm and only had her best interests at heart.
She thought he pitied her. Not so. He admired her tenacity, but hated that her complicated past broke her down to the point her life became nothing but endurance.
She’d survived hell and come home, but hell followed her.
She couldn’t escape, didn’t know how, but she kept fighting. He’d help her. He wouldn’t give up on her. He wouldn’t let her suffer alone.

Ford isn’t the only hero in His Cowboy Heart. Jamie is a military vet. She’s risked her life for our country and to save her fellow soldiers. But it’s her inner strength, determination, and dedication to healing, even when she backslides, that prove heroes don’t have to be perfect, they just have to persevere.

She wanted so much to go back in time and change the course of her life. She wanted Ford to ask her to stay, not tell her to go. She wanted to have the life they dreamed about, but seemed like some other woman’s wish because she wasn’t that person anymore. She wanted to be that hopeful girl again, but couldn’t fight reality. She’d never be the same again. This version of herself wanted to run. From the nightmares. That terrifying black hole in her mind. From Ford. Herself.
Damnit, she was so tired of fighting herself, the dark thoughts in her mind and the feeling of defeat that swamped her sometimes, and especially fighting what she felt for Ford. She didn’t want to do it anymore.
Time to declare a cease fire with herself.
I’ll take care of myself.
I’ll be kinder to myself.
I’ll allow myself to believe good things still happen.

I love this new series! It’s filled with ongoing suspense and tension then sexy hot romance, and relatable people that you want to spend time with. The writing kept me turning the pages to see what would happen next. Madison was easy to like and her reaction to things was believable, even when she made me groan. Alex? I’d sure like to meet an Alex! He is sweet and smoldering all at the same time, which makes for fun reading. I look forward to reading about his brothers and how things pan out for them, it should be fun.

He slowly moved his hand up her bare back to her dress’s clasp at the base of her neck. He deftly unhooked it and slowly pushed it open, causing one side of the dress to slip down her shoulder.
“As fucking amazing as you look in this dress, it needs to come off.”
Although her skin was fevered, she shivered as he ran his fingertips along the ridge of her collarbone. He lowered his lips to her neck and pressed a lazy line of kisses from her ear to her shoulder. Darcy let her head fall back, the feel of his warm mouth coaxing a breathy sigh from her throat.
He pushed her dress down over both shoulders before it fell and hung loosely at her hips. He raised his head and his eyes roamed her black lacy bra. Thank God she’d decided to buy the lingerie. She could tell Sean liked it. He was staring at her breasts like he was hypnotized… like a magician was swinging a bright, shiny object before him, and he couldn’t take his eyes off it.
“Christ Almighty,” he whispered.
She felt empowered. She felt like a vixen. He might have held the power mere seconds before by demanding they slow things down and by turning her into putty in his hands, but all it took was a flash of her breasts, and he was lost.
Boldly, she slid her thumbs beneath her dress and pushed it the rest of the way down, letting the red fabric pool on the floor. Sean’s eyes slowly made their way to her abdomen to take in her matching black panties that made up the rest of her Lace Temptation set. His nostrils flared and she knew that he wanted her as much as she wanted him.
She stepped out of her dress, using the toe of one shoe to toss it aside. She brought her hands to the front of Sean’s chest and started undoing the buttons of his shirt. His chest was hard beneath her fingers, and the thin fabric of his undershirt clung to the contours of his muscles. She pushed his dress shirt off his shoulders and tugged his undershirt from the waist of his trousers. When she started to lift it up his body, he helped her pull it the rest of the way off.
He was perfect—classically beautiful in the way that ancient Greek and Roman sculptures were portrayed. His flat pectoral muscles twitched slightly under her gaze as she slowly ran her fingers along the flat planes to where his nipples were. Light hair spattered his chest, but there was none on his defined abs until closer to his waistline, where it reappeared and formed a naughty line leading to something Darcy knew she wanted desperately. She ran her fingertips back up his torso before meeting his eyes.
He was watching her, giving her time to take him in. His eyes were burning blue flames, and they pulled all the air from her lungs.
Lightly brushing the backs of his fingers across the lace covering her nipple, he asked, “Did you buy this for me too?”
She nodded, unable to speak. He ran his other hand down her hip to her backside, sliding his fingers under the lace of her panties.
“I like these too. Maybe more than the dress.”
His deep voice did things between her legs that her favorite vibrator only hoped to achieve.
He slowly started pulling her toward him as he backed up and sat down into one of the large yellow chairs. His eyes drank in every inch of her body, but oddly enough she didn’t feel overexposed standing before him. She knew that he liked what he saw because his pants outlined a sizeable erection.
Reaching behind her, she unhooked her bra before letting it fall from her body. Sean inhaled as he rested his head on the back of the chair. His jaw twitched like he was trying to show restraint from touching her. She couldn’t think of anything else she wanted more at that moment than his hands on her.
She leaned over and braced herself on the chair’s arms for balance as she slipped out of her heels. Sean was staying true to his word. He wanted her to set the pace. But goddamn it, this was only the second time she’d done this, and he could at least help her out a little bit by making some sort of move.
As if he’d read her mind, he reached forward and placed his hand behind her left knee, pulling it forward so she had no choice but to straddle him. Once she was balanced, his hands trailed up her outer thighs all the way to the undersides of her breasts.
Leaning forward, Sean took one of Darcy’s hardened nipples into his mouth. It was like being licked by a flame, but she didn’t mind being burned.
He rolled her nipple around his tongue, causing bolts of electricity to shoot throughout her body like a midsummer storm. Her fingers curled at the exquisite feeling, and she raked her fingernails down his chest.
Sean must have liked that because he drew in a quick breath, pulling air over the sensitive peak of her breast.
“Oh, God,” she moaned.
She felt him smile against her skin before he showed the same sweet attention to her other nipple as he’d done to the first. He teased and suckled her as she arched her back. His hands kneaded her ass, and her desire began to build. If he kept working her nipples with his mouth like that, she was going to come without him even having to touch her clit.
She didn’t want that. She wanted him. For a split second, she remembered the discomfort of the first time, but her need for him was so great she didn’t care. She wanted him to fill her. She wanted to feel his muscles flex as he pushed in and out of her.
“Sean,” she whispered. “I’m ready.”
Stilling his mouth, he raised his head to meet her sultry gaze. “Tell me what you want.”
Darcy quivered from the rumble of his voice. “I want you inside of me.”
Sean’s eyes smoldered as he nodded. “I have a condom in my jacket pocket.”
She looked at his jacket, which lay over the arm of the other chair. It was only four feet away, and yet it seemed like too far to go. But she knew that there was no way they should be having unprotected sex. Not that she didn’t trust Sean, but she wasn’t on the pill. She pushed off his lap and walked toward the jacket, quickly finding his wallet with three condoms tucked neatly inside.
She looked back over her shoulder at him. “A bit presumptuous of you, don’t you think?”
His mouth twitched in a wicked grin. “I’m an eternal optimist.”

Rosco Redmond was an opportunity Kitty couldn’t afford to mess up.

The door to his Georgian town house lacked any attempt at welcome. It faced the world with immaculate London style—glossy black paint against warm cream stone—handsome but unadorned.

The peaceful, exclusive inner city cobblestone street oozed understated elegance. Its sweep of heritage buildings an oasis of secluded tranquility, just a few blocks away from London’s hectic commercial center.

But it had Kitty’s heartbeat thundering in her ears as unwanted memories flooded her in a cold tide of rejection. Memories of the miserable childhood she’d purged from her adult life.

It was the worst coincidence that the Redmond house looked an awful lot like her childhood home and represented the kind of world Kitty never wanted to be part of again.

The unexpected shock had all her buried insecurities nibbling at her confidence.

But she’d never walked away from a challenge since she was sixteen, when her mother died and left her alone. A time of shame, of dark and painful memories usually left undisturbed and firmly in the past where they belonged.

Shaking them off now, she faced the house squarely, rocking discreetly from foot to foot to ease the ache of her highest heeled boots. She’d chosen them for courage, so she didn’t mind the pain.

Straightening her back, she commanded her nerves to focus and smiled as her fingers caressed the worn strap of the camera hung around her neck.

She could do this job.

Plucked at short notice from the lowest ranks of LJ Redmond Publishing’s contracted photographers for this urgent assignment, she couldn’t believe her luck. It was a matter of timing, the human resources department had informed her, because all of Mr. Redmond’s senior photographers were unavailable at this time.

She would do whatever was required, as her financial security depended on nailing this project—whatever it turned out to be—and taking her best photos ever.

Kitty took one last look at the imposing three-story building, sucked in a deep breath, and bounded up the four steps to the porch. She found the discreetly recessed doorbell and pressed it for a long, determined ring.

Hoisting her camera bag onto her hip, she took another steadying breath as the sound of security locks opening reminded her this was serious business.

Then Rosco Redmond, CEO of his family’s Investment and Publishing Groups, stood in the doorway. She’d expected a butler in coattails or a housekeeper to answer the door.

The man himself was tall, lean, and gorgeous. Tailored for business in an impeccable dark suit and blood-red tie.

Can you tell us a little about your book?

Tangling with the London Tycoon is a contemporary romance between Rosco Redmond and Kitty Mayfair, two characters who think they have nothing in common. In fact their perceived differences are the very reasons they should be together.

It takes them a while to see this for themselves!

In the meantime they endure a complicated sort of fake relationship, are hounded by the paparazzi, feel harassed by memories of childhood traumas, and try to resist being seduced by the promise of their own happily ever after.

Throw in an international pop star, some meddling, match-making Irish relatives, and a lucrative private palace photography contract. And, phew–it’s hectic!

How did you come up with the concept and the characters for the story?

Rosco and Kitty popped into my head as fully formed characters. I loved them instantly. Kitty made me laugh and Rosco made me smile–he was doomed from the moment he opened his smart London door!

Read, Pinterest, garden, and dream of travelling on a castle tour.

What types of scenes are your most favorite to write?

I love writing witty dialogue scenes with lots of underlying emotion and sensual attraction. My current favorite is under a table at a wedding—you’ll have to buy Tangling with the London Tycoon to read it.

Donna review 4.5 stars

I had fun reading this Gargoyle story. Drum was a humorous reluctant hero with enough sex appeal to thaw even a stone Gargoyle’s heart. Ash made a good counterpoint to Drum and I enjoyed watching her learn about life and love. The crazy Wardens and Guardians around them provided enough humor to counteract the evil surrounding them. (Drum’s inner thoughts were my favorite though.) It was a fast paced and action packed read that kept me wanting more.

I really enjoyed this hot new release in Shayla Black’s Wicked Lovers Series. HOLDING ON TIGHTER is the twelfth book in the series and while some of the characters show up throughout the series, each book is a standalone that features different main characters. I always prefer to read a series in order, but you can read these books in any order and be fine. HOLDING ON TIGHTER is a scorching hot romance with some suspense. It took me a while to warm up to the heroine and Heath did a few things that annoyed me, but I understood why by the end of the book. Who doesn’t love a sexy Brit? Yum! I recommend this book for romantic suspense/ erotica lovers. When I’m in the mood for erotica romance that has a suspenseful storyline I reach for one of Shayla Black’s books. Her books always satisfy my addiction.

Heath jerked back to face her and leaned in so close their noses nearly touched. “Am I wrong?”
She refused to stroll down that memory lane. “Does it matter?”
“I daresay it does. But we’ll come back to that. If you were merely mistrustful of men, you would have waited until tomorrow and delivered a well-placed warning to keep me away from your sister.
Instead, you came after me. And when you found me with another woman, your temper flared. If I merely lived up to your expectations of being a womanizing prick, that shouldn’t make you angry at all, simply smug at being right. But you were livid. I doubt all that displeasure is on your sister’s behalf. In fact, I suspect, Ms. Quinn, that you have more than a passing interest in me. You were jealous.”
Apprehension raced through her veins. He was uncomfortably close to the truth. “You’re egotistical.”
“But I’m right.” He gave her a tight smile. “For the record, if I intended to disregard policy and pursue a woman in the office, I wouldn’t bother with your sister. As you say, she’s naive and provides no challenge. But you . . . You would be far more interesting. Pretty, strong, smart, not easily bendable. Color me intrigued.”
She tensed. “I’m your boss.”
“Temporarily. We’re both adults. Surely neither of us are prone to torrid emotional attachments. We could keep business separate from personal, couldn’t we?”
Normally, she’d say yes. But working with him constantly buzzing around her, asking questions, and watching her every move had already dented her focus. “I have no intention of becoming your next conquest.”
“I never planned to pursue you.”
Jolie wondered why, then dismissed the question as she buttoned her red coat. “Perfect. There’s nothing left to say except I’m sorry for intruding on your evening. I hope we can forget this by morning.”
She had to get out of here. She’d overplayed her hand and needed to regroup, to think about how to treat him tomorrow. The last thing she wanted was for Heath Powell to decide she was a challenge he should convert into his next bed partner after all. Normally, the sexual urges of a man wouldn’t concern her unless she was interested. If so, she found a way to have him for a night or two, then ended it.
Something told her that nothing with Heath would ever be that simple.
But when Jolie turned her back on him and headed for the parking lot, he snaked an arm around her middle and pulled her against his big, steely body. “I never planned to pursue you . . . but I’ve changed my mind.”

Sunrise glistens on the meandering curves of the East River, the golden light of the August morning gilding the elegant hotels, mansions, and other prime real estate that surrounds verdant Central Park ninety-three stories below me. Lifting my head from my pillow, I sweep my bed-tossed tangle of blond hair away from my eyes, awed and breathless as I watch daybreak gently play over the city from my privileged vantage point far above it all.
I’ve been waking up to this view—in this bed on top of the world—for the past two weeks, yet I swear each morning is more spectacular than the last.
So are the nights.
As tempting as it may be to slip out from the silky sheets and savor the splendor of New York City’s waking skyline, my body is languid and flushed, my limbs too weak to move. All of my senses are still thrumming from an incredible predawn orgasm that’s only beginning to ebb.
I sigh in pleasure, and the firm, muscled arm that’s wrapped around me from behind flexes to pull me closer. Warm lips and a beard-roughened face nuzzles my nape with a kiss that sends wet heat licking through me, straight to my core.
