Review: The Beast (Black Dagger Brotherhood #14) by J.R. Ward

The Beast (Black Dagger Brotherhood Series) by J.R. Ward

Publication Date: April 5, 2016

imageNothing is as it used to be for the Black Dagger Brotherhood. After avoiding war with the Shadows, alliances have shifted and lines have been drawn. The slayers of the Lessening Society are stronger than ever, preying on human weakness to acquire more money, more weapons, more power. But as the Brotherhood readies for an all-out attack on them, one of their own fights a battle within himself…

For Rhage, the Brother with the biggest appetites, but also the biggest heart, life was supposed to be perfect—or at the very least, perfectly enjoyable. Mary, his beloved shellan, is by his side and his King and his brothers are thriving. But Rhage can’t understand—or control—the panic and insecurity that plague him…

And that terrifies him—as well as distances him from his mate. After suffering mortal injury in battle, Rhage must reassess his priorities—and the answer, when it comes to him, rocks his world…and Mary’s. But Mary is on a journey of her own, one that will either bring them closer together or cause a split that neither will recover from…

Cori 5 Stars

I loved The Beast so much! I love everything about Rhage as a hero. He’s this perfect flawless looking guy but he’s also loyal, he’s funny and he has such a big heart. We get to see more of his qualities in this book. This new addition in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series is one of my new favorites in the series. There were several scenes with Rhage and Bitty (I won’t go into who Bitty is to Rhage because I don’t want to give away anything) that just melted my heart and showed me again that there is just something honest and straightforward about Rhage that draws people in and it makes him one of my favorite brothers. So many new things happened in the storyline with existing characters and new characters were introduced. I can’t wait to see what happens next and how the new events will affect the Brotherhood. Gah! I’m already dying to get my hands on THE CHOSEN when it releases Spring 2017. The Warden has confirmed that THE CHOSEN will be Layla and Xcor’s book. BDB fans will love this new release and if you are one of the few people who haven’t heard about this paranormal series you should start at the beginning and devour them all in order. J. R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series is an epic paranormal romance series!

About the Author

imageJ.R. Ward is the number one New York Times bestselling author of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series of vampire books. She is a winner of the prestigious Romance Writers of America RITA award for Best Paranormal Romance and is a multiple RITA nominee. A graduate of Smith College, she was a double major in History and Art History with a medieval concentration in both and she still longs at times for a return to those days sitting in dark lecture halls, looking at slides of old triptychs and reliquaries. Prior to becoming a full time writer, she was a corporate attorney, serving for many years as the Chief of Staff of one of Harvard Medical Schools premier teaching sites. Her idea of absolute heaven is a day filled with nothing but her computer, her dog and her coffee pot and the Brothers, of course.
