SYNOPSIS

Kera Watson never expected to face death behind a Los Angeles coffee shop. Not after surviving two tours lugging an M16 around the Middle East. If it wasn’t for her hot Viking customer showing up too late to help, nobody would even see her die.

In uncountable years of service to the Allfather Odin, Ludvig “Vig” Rundstrom has never seen anyone kick ass with quite as much style as Kera. He knows one way to save her life—but she might not like it. Signing up with the Crows will get Kera a new set of battle buddies: cackling, gossiping, squabbling, party-hearty women. With wings. So not the Marines.

But Vig can’t give up on someone as special as Kera. With a storm of oh-crap magic speeding straight for L.A., survival will depend on combining their strengths: Kera’s discipline, Vig’s loyalty…and the Crows’ sheer love of battle. Boy, are they in trouble.

I was looking forward to this re-worked version of the Crows and truly enjoyed it.  While it added a bit more depth to the backstory it also lacked a little of the lighthearted fun from The Gathering.  I’ll warn you that the beginning was a bit chaotic and it took me a little bit to settle into the story.  That being said, I had fun reading it.  The snarky biting humor of the Crows emphasizes the crazy situations they find themselves in.  As with all her books, there is a burning hot romance to balance out the ongoing battles.  Kera of course had trouble adapting to her new reality but Mr. Perfect Vig was there for her in every way possible.  I hope I don’t have to wait very long for the next book in this series!

MESSAGE FROM SHELLY LAURENSTON

ABOUT THIS NEW SERIES

Dear Reader—

Well, this is it. The first book in my new series, Call of the Crows, and right off the bat, I want you to understand this is not a rewrite of an old book nor is it a fleshing out of an old book. The Unleashing is a brand-new book and series, with brand-new characters, brand-new locale, and brand-new trouble. Although my book Hunting Season, which has been out since 2005, was the start of this idea (introducing the two main Viking Clans at the heart of this series, the Crows and the Ravens), The Unleashing is me taking the whole thing to the next level, and it’s a definite stand-alone.

The other thing I wanted to point out was that I have taken some liberties with these gods and their histories. As I did my research, I found multiple interpretations of individual gods and their backstories, so I really had no choice. I would pick the one I liked best and then put my own twist on it. But I think you guys will be up for the ride as you always seem to be—and I thank you for that.
So sit back, pull out your horn of ale, and get ready to experience my subtle, delicate heroines …The Crows.

Heh.

I really enjoyed this anthology. It had it all from contemporary to paranormal romance with everything in between. WALKING THE LINE was all about taking chances on life and love. It is a nice hot little romance. AMAZED BY YOU is a hot little number about finding that love is what makes life worth living and that sometimes you get a second chance. ONE LITTLE KISS tugged at my heart strings with its heartfelt story that blended well with the sexy romance. BIG BAD RED is a quirky paranormal romance and was a sexy fun read. LUCK OF THE IRISH is a hot story about a leprechaun of all things and I loved it. I think I’ll go look for my own mirror now. SOMETHING BORROWED is an all-around feel-good romance that made me smile over and over. A great way to end this anthology! The length of each story was perfect. I would read and then do a little housework before reading the next one. I loved it!

Eden’s mom, stepdad, dad, and stepmom, out for the nuptials, worry their daughter has fallen into the grasp of an insidious crime lord–a concern that Ty can’t, in all honesty, put to rest.

I am a big fan of the Red Team series and was glad she put this wedding in as a novella.  It was the perfect way to introduce Ty’s dad, Cord and serve as a nice segue to the next novel.  This is not a read-alone novella so the target audience would be those who have kept up with this hot exciting series.  I cannot wait for Red Team #5!

EXCERPT

“Yeah. That’s one way to put it. Is there something else you called for besides trying to stick your nose in where it doesn’t belong?”

I open my mouth and then shut it, unsure how calling him because I just needed to hear his voice has devolved so quickly into this. Into me scrambling for words I can’t find to fix shit that doesn’t need fixing.

Because I don’t want this. Don’t want him.

“Well then, if you want to actually talk instead of pull this ridiculous bullshit, I’m here for you…but Had…? Whatever this is here…this passive aggressive crap? I don’t do too well with that. We had our one night. You made it quite clear you didn’t want anything more than that so you don’t get to call me up and question what I might or might not be doing with anybody else. You want no strings? Then cut the ties…but frankly I don’t think you know what the fuck you want so until you figure your shit out, I think it’s best that we say good night before we make a bad situation even worse.”

“Wait!” Desperation rings in my voice in the single word. And I hate myself for sounding like this but I’m so lonely, so scared and just want the comfort I know he can bring me right now.

I wait for the sound of the dial tone to assault my ears. Wait for the incessant beep that reaffirms why I have barbed wire wrapped around my heart – painful but necessary. But there is nothing for a few moments until I hear the phone scrape against the stubble on his face.

And I wait…my throat burning with the tears I want to shed but am so sick of. The ones that no longer bring me comfort.
“I’m here, Haddie. I’m not going anywhere, okay?” The timbre of his voice carries his concern and sympathy to me through the line.

The incoherent sound I make is all I can offer in thank you to him for not hanging up on me. For not giving up on me.

I loved Slow Burn! I experienced a roller coaster of emotions while reading this book. I laughed, I cried, and I fanned myself during the hot sex scenes.  Becks is the ultimate book boyfriend. I just loved him. Haddie brought out the bad boy, alpha male in him. There were times I’d get frustrated with Haddie and I wanted to reach inside the book in shake her. I love charcaters that can cause those kind of strong emotions in the reader though. Slow Burn is an unforgettable and emotional love story that will stay with the reader long after you close the book.  It’s a standalone romance, but there will be additional standalone releases in The Driven Series. I highly recommend Slow Burn and can’t wait for the next book.

I loved this new addition in Marie Force’s Green Mountain Series. And I Love Her is the fouth book in the series, but it can be read as a standalone. I recommend the entire series though. And I Love Her captured and held my attention from start to finish. It’s a fun and sexy love story that is well written with characters I loved. Because Hunter is the oldest of his 10 siblings he’s use to taking care of everyone. When Megan’s life was falling apart he showed up when she needed him. I loved them together. Their chemistry was off the charts and their love scenes  burned up the pages. I highly recommend this book for romance lovers looking for a great love story! It’s a great book to curl up with and get lost in for a while.

Chapter One Excerpt

Chapter 1

Business opportunities are like buses, there’s always another one coming.
—Sir Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group

When her sister and brother-in-law said they wanted to talk to her at the diner Monday evening, Megan Kane assumed they were going to tell her they were finally expecting the niece or nephew she’d wanted for as long as they’d been married. But the words that came from Brett and Nina in stuttering, halting sentences had nothing to do with babies.

“Moving overseas.”

“Selling the diner.”

“So sorry to do this to you.”

“It was an amazing opportunity.”

“We couldn’t say no.”

“You can come with us.” Nina seemed crushed to be delivering this news to her “baby” sister, who was almost twenty-eight and hardly a baby anymore. “I’d love that. We could run around and explore together while Brett is at work. It would be so fun.”

Megan shook off the shock and found her voice. “No. You’ve been taking care of me since you were twenty-two, Neen. It’s time to go live your life. I’ll be fine.”

“We really do mean it when we say you should come with us,” Brett said. He was always so kind to her, never once in all these years acting as if her tight bond with his wife was a problem for him.

“I can’t do that. I can’t crash your party. I’ve been around your necks long enough as it is.”

“You’re hardly around our necks, Megan,” Nina said. “We could have so much fun! Would you think about it before you automatically say no? Please?”

“Fine.” Megan said what her sister needed to hear. “I’ll think about it.”

“Great!” Nina said, beaming with pleasure at the small victory.

“If you decide to stay here, we’ll help you find another job,” Brett said. “Maybe the new owners of the diner would want to keep you on. They’d be crazy not to.”

He’d been a terrific brother-in-law to her since he married her sister nine years ago. A teacher at a nearby boys’ prep school, he’d apparently applied for overseas positions in the past but they’d never materialized until now.

Work at Nina’s Diner without Nina? Unthinkable. “I’ll figure something out. You guys don’t need to worry about me.”

“Of course we’ll worry about you, Meg.” Nina reached for her sister’s hand across the table. “I don’t know how not to worry about you.”

“It’s probably time I got a life of my own.” Megan tried to stay calm even as she panicked on the inside. Not see Nina every day? Unbearable. “Mom and Dad would be horrified if they knew I was still living in the garage apartment.”

“They’d be proud of you.”

“No, they’d be proud of you, but you deserve it. You’ve created such a wonderful business here, and now you have this fantastic opportunity to travel. I’d never hold you guys back from doing what you want.”

Brett’s relief was so visible he practically sagged under the weight of it. Obviously, they’d worried about telling her their news. “You really can come with us if you want to, Megan,” he said. “It would be great to have you in France.”

“I’d love to come visit while you’re there, but this is home.” In reality, Nina was home to her, not Butler or the house where they’d once lived with their parents, but Megan kept those thoughts to herself.

“You said you’d think about it!” Nina said.

“Neen, I can’t just go traipsing off to France, as fun as that sounds. I need to figure out my life and what I’m going to do with it. I can’t do that in France. I don’t want either of you to worry about me. I swear I’ll be fine.”

“Are you sure?” Nina asked tearfully. “You’d tell me if you didn’t mean that, wouldn’t you?”

“I’m very sure.” Megan kept her emotions out of it—for now anyway. “This could turn out to be a good thing for me. It’ll give me the kick in the butt I’ve needed to move on.” Megan had been marching in place for more than ten years, since the snowy night they lost their parents in a car crash during her senior year of high school.

Nina had been her rock ever since, acting as mother, father and big sister all rolled into one. The sisters had held on to each other for all these years, and the thought of everyday life without Nina was unfathomable to Megan.

“If you agree, we’re going to rent the house,” Brett said, “but the garage apartment is all yours for as long as you want or need it. We told the rental agent the garage wasn’t part of the deal.”

“Of course I agree. No sense the house sitting vacant when you could be making some money.” Her brother-in-law’s sweetness nearly broke her emotional dam, but she refused to cry in front of them. Since there were going to be tears—and lots of them—she had to get out of there immediately. No way would she make them feel bad about something they were so excited about. Knowing she was on borrowed time where the tears were concerned, Megan gathered up her belongings and stood. “I’ll see you guys in the morning.”

“Let me drive you home,” Nina said.

“That’s okay. I could use the fresh air after being inside all afternoon.” They’d used their afternoon and evening “off” to do their monthly deep clean of the diner.

“You’re sure you’re all right?” Nina asked.

Megan bent to kiss her sister’s cheek. “I’m fine, and I’m thrilled for both of you.”

Nina held her tight for a minute. “Love you, Meggie.”

Megan couldn’t remember the last time Nina had called her by her childhood nickname. “Love you, too.”

Feeling as if she’d been set adrift, untethered from the one sure thing in her life, Megan stepped out of the diner, taking a moment to breathe in the fresh, clean early-autumn air. The tears she’d managed to contain in front of Nina and Brett broke loose in sobs that had her looking for a place to hide until the storm passed.

She crossed the street and ducked behind the Green Mountain Country Store, planning to hide out until Brett and Nina left for home.

The last thing she wanted was for them to see her crying, and nothing short of a miracle would help her keep it together tonight.

After another twelve-hour marathon in front of the computer, Hunter Abbott stood and stretched out the kinks in his shoulders and back. As the chief financial officer for the Green Mountain Country Store and other Abbott family businesses, Hunter worked pretty much all the time. If it weren’t for the pressing need for food that his body demanded every few hours, he’d probably work around the clock.

It wasn’t like he had anything better to do. And wasn’t that a sad, pathetic fact of his life?

His stomach let out an unholy growl that had him checking the time on his computer. Nine ten. With the diner closed today, that left pizza as his only option in town at this hour. He dialed the number to Kingdom Pizza from memory and ordered a small veggie and a salad. If he was resorting to eating junk, at least it was somewhat healthy. Before his twin sister, Hannah, had remarried over the summer, Hunter might’ve headed for her house to bum some dinner and conversation. But with Nolan now living with Hannah and the two of them in starry-eyed newly wedded bliss, Hunter steered clear.

He turned off his computer and glanced at the stack of files still awaiting his attention. Bring them home or leave them for tomorrow? After a brief internal debate, he shut off the light and left them. His tank was running on empty, and tomorrow would bring more of the same.

In the outer office, he was surprised to find the light still on in his sister Ella’s office. He went over to knock on her door. “You’re working late.”

“As are you.”

“Except I always do. What’s your excuse?”

“Getting some new products entered into the system, and dealing with a pile of paperwork that never seems to get smaller no matter what I do.”

“I hear you there. So much for being self-employed, huh?”

She smiled at him, but he noted a hint of sadness in her eyes that caught him by surprise. Ella was one of the most joyful people he’d ever known—always happy and upbeat.

“Everything okay?”

“Sure. Why do you ask?”

“You just seemed . . . I don’t know . . . sad or something for a second there.”

“I’m fine. No need to worry.”

“Okay then.” Hunter took a step back, planning to leave, but there it was again—the sadness he’d seen before. “You know if there’s anything wrong, you can come to me, right? We may see each other a thousand times a day, but I’m right over there if you need me. No matter what it is.”

“Thank you, Hunter. That’s very sweet of you. I know you want to take care of everything for all of us, but some things . . . Well, some things can’t be managed. They are what they are.”

More confused than ever, Hunter wasn’t sure whether he should stay and try to force the issue or give her some space to deal with whatever was bothering her. “I’m here, El. I’m right here. Don’t suffer in silence.”

Her smile softened her face. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Do you want me to wait for you so you’re not here alone?”

“No. I’ve got another hour or so, and I can lock up.”

“Give me a quick call to let me know you got home okay.”

“Hunter . . .”

“What? You’ll always be my little sister, so call me.”

“I’m only four years younger than you.”

“And I vividly remember the day you were born.”

“Freak.”

Hunter chuckled at the predictable comment. His family teased him every day about his photographic memory and ability to recall facts and figures from years ago that should’ve been impossible to remember. Sometimes he wished he could forget some of the crap that rattled around in his brain, but it was his lot in life to be a walking, talking data warehouse. “See you in the morning.”

“Have a good night.”

“Call me.”

“Go!”

Hunter went down the stairs thinking about what Ella had said about him wanting to take care of things for everyone. Perhaps it was also his lot in life as the oldest of the ten Abbott siblings, but he wanted the people he loved to be happy and their problems to be few, even if that meant taking on more than his share of the load.

Hannah had been after him recently to work less and play more. If only he could think of something he’d rather do than work.

Totally pathetic. He knew it, but damn if he could figure out how to snap out of the rut he’d fallen into. When had he become an all-work, no-play stick in the mud? If he were being honest with himself, he’d been in the rut for a long time, probably since he graduated from college and joined the family business full time. College had been the last time he’d been truly free of responsibility and obligation.

Thinking about the blissful college days had him remembering his late brother-in-law Caleb, Hannah’s first husband, who’d died in Iraq seven years ago. If he came back to life and saw how ridiculously out of balance Hunter’s life had become, he’d raise holy hell.

Raising holy hell was on Hunter’s mind as he stepped into the cool darkness and waited for the motion-sensitive light to come on. Once it did, he turned to lock the door behind him. Ella would see to setting the alarm system. Leaving her alone at the store made him anxious, but he would check on her if she didn’t remember to call him.

A sound to his left had him stopping to listen. Was that sniffling? “Who’s there?”

“It’s me, Megan. I’m sorry to scare you.”

That voice . . . It cut through him like a knife slicing butter. Every nerve ending in his body stood up to take note of her nearness, which happened every damned time he came into any kind of contact with her. “Megan,” he said in a voice that was barely a whisper. “What’re you doing here in the dark?”

“Hiding out.”

“Why? Are you hurt? What’s wrong?” True to form, he wanted to make things right for her, no matter what it took. His heart beat quickly, as if he’d been running for miles, and his hands were suddenly sweaty and clammy. He’d never understand why this particular woman provoked such a strong reaction in him every time he laid eyes on her—or in this case, heard tears in her voice as she spoke in the dark.

“Nothing’s wrong. I just needed a minute. Sorry to trespass on your property. I’ll get out of your way.”

“Wait. Don’t go.” The words came out sounding far more desperate than he’d intended. “At least let me drive you home.”

“That’s all right. I can walk.”

“I wouldn’t mind at all.”

She stepped into the light, and the sight of her tear-ravaged face broke his heart. What could possibly be so wrong?

“It’s out of your way.”

“I’ve got nowhere to be.” He watched her expressive face as she pondered his offer. Her lips pursed, which brought her cheekbones into sharper relief against the pale skin on her face. Exquisite was the word that came to mind whenever he looked at her, which was as often as he could. Until recently she’d had a major crush on his brother Will, but that had no bearing whatsoever on how he felt about her. He looked at her, and he wanted. It was that simple.

Except she barely knew he was alive, which was a problem.

“If you’re sure you don’t mind,” she said after an impossibly long pause.

“I really don’t.”

“Thank you.”

She walked with him to his silver Lincoln Navigator and stood by his side as he held the passenger door and waited for her to get settled.

As he got into the driver’s side, his growling stomach reminded him of the take-out order. “Have you had dinner?” The words were out before he could take the time to overanalyze the situation.

“Not yet.”

“I have a pizza and salad on order. I’d be happy to share.”

“I don’t know if I could eat.”

“Come along and keep me company?”

“Um, sure. Okay.” She reached into her purse, withdrew a tissue and wiped her eyes.

“Are you going to tell me why you were crying?”

“Do I have to?”

“Of course not.” He was surprised that she would think he’d try to force it out of her. “But I’m told I’m a good listener.”

She had no reply to that, so he turned the key to start the engine, lowering the windows a bit to get some air.

“I probably stink from cleaning the diner,” she said.

“No, you don’t.” As he drove, he thought of a thousand things he’d like to say to her, but none were the sort of things a guy blurted out when he finally had a moment alone with the woman he desired.

How exactly did you tell a woman who barely knew you were alive that you thought about her constantly? That seeing her upset killed you. That wanting her kept you awake at night. How did you tell her it didn’t matter if she had once been obsessed with your brother? That there was nothing you wouldn’t do to see her smile, to see her pale blue eyes light up with joy?

How could he say any of that and not sound like a total creep?

He couldn’t, so he kept his mouth shut and hoped he wouldn’t do something embarrassing like hyperventilate from the overwhelming effort it took not to say all of it.

Dragon-warrior Venom lives in self-imposed isolation. Cursed by his toxic touch, he is deadly to anyone who has contact with him for too long. Set apart from others and hounded by intense loneliness, he craves the lasting connection he believes he cannot possess. Until a chance encounter with a sultry mortal offers a ray of hope…

Evelyn Foxe is the woman of Venom’s every desire, but she’s too busy running from the Russian mob to think about love. As she accepts Venom’s offer to help her escape her precarious situation, she’s skeptical, afraid that he’s in league with those sent to harm her. But when a biological weapon is unleashed in her hometown, Evelyn is forced to trust Venom—or risk the dangers of going it alone.

Will they survive the firestorm that rages around them? And can they pull from the ashes a love that will defy all the odds and last through the ages?

I loved Venom’s story! I originally found this series on The Kindle Prime Lending Library and read the first couple books free and then bought them because I became addicted and wanted to keep them. Coreene Callahan’s Dragonfury Series is incredible! It’s packed full of action, danger and smoking hot romance. Fury of Obsession is the fifth book in the series and Venom and Evelyn’s story. Venom is my new favorite dragon! I just loved him! I highly recommend this series for paranormal romance lovers. The Dragonfury Series is an addicting series full of sexy alpha dragons you’ll fall in love with.

Call it payback after years of locker room talk and ice rink antics, but whatever you call it, the action better be heart stopping, the magic electric, and the story wicked, good fun.

Jennifer Ashley’s New York Times bestselling Shifters Unbound series continues as a Shifter and a human are faced with the unexpected, undeniable pull of a bond…

As the military liaison between the human Shifter Bureau and Shiftertown, Walker is often stuck trying to appease both sides—and angering both. So when bear-Shifter Rebecca is captured taking a run in a restricted area, Walker has to talk fast to get her released. The compromise: if Rebecca helps him find a missing woman—thought to have been abducted by a Shifter—she won’t be charged and executed.

Mate-less Rebecca is not happy to be under Walker’s supervision. As a bear used to roaming for miles, she hates being confined and restricted, she distrusts anything involving humans, and—worst of all—the strong and handsome Walker starts triggering her mating need.

They have no choice but to work together, and as they continue their search for the missing girl, uncovering secrets neither Shifters nor humans want them to know, both Walker and Rebecca find it hard not to mix business with pleasure…

IMG_7352
I really enjoyed this installment in the Shifters Unbound series. Rebecca is a strong alpha female that is still likeable while Walker is an alpha human without being too domineering. They made the perfect couple. It took a long time to finally ‘get together’ because of everything going on around them but it was worth the wait. I liked the angle and intrigue as it kept you wanting to know what happens next while letting everyone’s personality shine through. A great mix of characters and a smoldering romance. A fun quick read.

The emotional and unforgettable new romance from the New York Times bestselling author of the On Dublin Street series.

Alexa Holland’s father was her hero—until her shocking discovery that her mother and she weren’t his only family. Ever since, Alexa has worked to turn her life in a different direction and forge her own identity outside of his terrible secrets. But when she meets a man who’s as damaged by her father’s mistakes as she is, Alexa must help him.

Caine Carraway wants nothing to do with Alexa’s efforts at redemption, but it’s not so easy to push her away. Determined to make her hate him, he brings her to the edge of her patience and waits for her to walk away. But his actions only draw them together and, despite the odds, they begin an intense and explosive affair.

Only Caine knows he can never be the white knight that Alexa has always longed for. And when they’re on the precipice of danger, he finds he’ll do anything to protect either one of them from being hurt again….

IMG_6917
I loved this book! Hero is a beautiful and emotional love story with a lot of conflict and danger. Caine is a sexy billionaire with secrets and a troubled past. Alexa’s a sassy and sarcastic woman who is not afraid to go after what she wants and doesn’t take no for an answer. I think she brought out the bets in Caine. He’s an ass sometimes, but still likable. Their chemistry was explosive and the sex was hot! Hero is a fast paced book that hooks the reader. I really enjoyed it! I highly recommend Samantha Young’s Hero for romance lovers looking for a hot romance book with an emotional and suspenseful plot.

I’m a 28 year old contemporary and paranormal romance author with 21 titles to my name so far. I love anything that allows me to be creative which means I love my family a whole heck of a lot. They’ve put up with my stories, a number of forced bedroom redecorations, singing, artwork, messy art supplies, a failed attempt at learning guitar, whiny emo music, two house moves (and redecoration) that they should have let me get on with myself but are far too nice to have done so, and a level of sarcasm they only have themselves to blame for since they raised me that way …

As a young girl I never imagined in a million years I’d get to spend my hours day dreaming up stories for myself and other people to enjoy. Much to my delight and amazement there are readers out there who can relate to my dry humour, my mad worlds, and all my heroes and heroines who sometimes do the saving and sometimes just need to be saved. Moreover readers seem to love my home country as much as I do. If I didn’t already love my readers for supporting me, I’d love them for loving Scotland. I’m quite attached to the place.

I find my inspiration in many places but one of the most important is in the world of music. Artists such as The Killers, Amy Macdonald, Biffy Clyro, Birdy, MS MR, The Airborne Toxic Event, Alex Winston, Florence + the Machine, Imagine Dragons, Carolina liar, Arcade Fire, Bastille, The Black Keys, Ingrid Michaelson, Paolo Nutini, Metric, The Naked & the Famous, The National, We Are Scientists, White Lies, The Steeldrivers, Olin & the Moon, The Rumour Said Fire, Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Pink, Lana Del Ray, Mumford & Sons, Matchbox Twenty, The Lumineers, La Rocca, Butterfly Boucher and many more inspire the heck out of me.

An impossible mission…

JAG Special Forces agents Huntley Anderson and Melissa Overton are hot on the trail of poachers when they’re suddenly saddled with two jaguar shifter cubs. They have to locate the parents, pronto—but who’s going to babysit in the meantime?

A lifetime of possibilities…

Huntley is a rough, tough jaguar shifter and an all-business agent, but he’s not going to let two abandoned youngsters come to any harm on his watch. Seeing her super-manly partner try to get the playful cubs under control stirs up some unexpected desires in Melissa, and she begins to feel like Huntley’s not the only one who’s in over his head…

IMG_6798
I enjoyed this story and the characters in it. Huntley and Melissa made a great couple and their relationship seemed to flow seamlessly into a steamy hot romance. The JAG agents showed not only dedication and experience but the humorous banter that comes from working together for years. The danger and the mission felt like a detective mystery with all the clues and close-calls. That put the tension just where it needed to be with the romance and banter adding the perfect balance. A very fun paranormal romance.

Once inside the park, Melissa and Huntley trekked for miles, not seeing much of anyone or anything, not with the way the rains were coming down in torrents in the steamy rainforest. They hadn’t found any sign of Jackson. Just a few hikers, hardier than most, who endured the rains and mud to see glimpses of wildlife here and there. When Melissa and Huntley finally set up camp for the night, she felt wet and miserable. And she couldn’t believe how Huntley looked like he could go on for several more hours when she was totally beat.

She should have regretted not sleeping more last night. But making love to him was what she’d needed. Not that she thought anything permanent was likely to come out of the relationship.

Just the same, she’d needed to feel sexy and wanted and loved. Huntley gave that to her and more. So when he’d wanted more, she just couldn’t say no, despite knowing that she needed a good seven hours of sleep to feel normal the next day.

She was thinking of Jackson and how he had slipped away from them the first time. She hoped they’d find him soon. Then gunshots fired off in the distance.

Her heart skipped a couple of beats.

“We don’t have time to take down the tent. Do we go as humans or jaguars?” Huntley quickly asked her.

She loved that about him—how he always included her in the decision making. “If they’re rangers or police, I want to go as humans. Even if they’re poachers, I think we’ll be safer if we look like we are ‘tourists.’ We can always shift when we get there if we need to.”

“Sounds good.”

At least they were armed with tranquilizer guns this time.

Another great read from Robin Covington! I loved it! I only wish the story was longer. Daring the Player is a novella so it’s a quick story. It’s really hot and steamy. I enjoyed the witty banter between the characters and their chemistry was off the charts. Rep knew how to talk to a woman that’s for sure. Yum. This was a fun and sexy read and I highly recommend it. I love when authors get together to collaborate like this and create a great series for readers to enjoy.

Excerpt Two – DARING THE PLAYER by Robin Covington

“I want to fuck you.”
It was direct and probably a little crude but he didn’t want any mixed signals especially since they’d hit it off tonight. One great dinner and some dancing did not lead to roses and joint bank account.
But holy hell, he wanted inside her. Needed to know what she’d feel like wrapped around him. He just knew she’d be responsive and vocal and that fucking flipped every single switch he had to on.
What he didn’t expect is what she did next.
“Now,” she said against his own ear and grabbed his hands, leading him through the crowd and past he group of hangers on that had been glaring at them all night. Lola ignored them, only pausing long enough to allow the security guard at the entrance to the VIP lounge to remove the velvet rope and let them pass. She walked towards the back of the seating area, past the bar and into the secluded area where the private bathroom was located. Lola opened the door and pulled him inside. He locked it behind them.
The second the lock clicked they were all about locked lips and the quick removal of the necessary clothing. Rep dove deep into her mouth with his tongue, savoring the taste of Lola and her desire, a sharp, smoky flavor. She moaned and he broke off the kiss, his own groan erupting out of his chest when her hands went to his belt and the button on his pants.
Her fingers were warm around his dick, slick with the damp from their dancing and her arousal and he fucked into them, enjoying the slide and the friction.
“Oh yes. You’re big’” she said, stroking him from tip to root. “I want that inside me.”
Rep looked around the restroom. It was nice, lush even, but the sink was one of those artistic ones that would never hold up under anyone’s weight much less anyone getting fucked as hard as he was going to take Lola.
He spun her around, gently moving her towards the wall until she pressed her palms flat against the wall, automatically spreading her legs wider.
“Good girl,” he breathed against her hair as he shoved his pants and boxer briefs down to mid thigh. He reached over to the small basket on the side of the sink and removed the condom he knew he’d find there. “God, I love VIP lounges.”
“Come on Grissom.” She pressed back against him, tossing her hair back over her shoulder as she watched him roll the condom over his length. “You reading the fine print on that thing or what?”
“For that comment, I’m going to make you wait.” Lola started to protest but she shut her up when his fingers slid under the flimsy material of her underwear and took a slow glide over her wet folds.
“Oh¼” Lola’s words slid into moans and he knew he’d been right. She was vocal, loud and leaving no doubt that he was making her feel good. Her palm slapped the wall when he inserted two fingers, angling his hand so that his thumb grazed her clit with every pump in and out of her body.
“God, don’t tease,” she begged and he loved how she was unashamed to ask for what she wanted. “Rep, please.”
He wanted to keep up his delay but honestly he was the only person being tortured in his room and he was getting harder every time her tight little body grabbed onto his fingers. He was done with waiting out the storm. He was ready to jump in.
