I enjoyed this installment in the series. As before, there were several storylines going on that became confusing. Thankfully, they played out well as the story progressed. I loved Sahvage. A past brother living as a ghost and outcast suddenly comes full circle in all his alpha glory. I wish I liked Mae but could not get past her behavior and actions. I understand Sahvage’s love for her, but I couldn’t get there. I realize her motivation was driving the story, it just wasn’t enough for me.

I enjoyed seeing some of my old favorite males involved in the story, making me want to go back and read their books again. Devina is a baddie that I love to hate, and the new characters look to be interesting going forward. Although not as romantic or sexy as some past books, it was just right for the level of suspense and action. I also cannot say how much I’m looking forward to what is to come. The hints were so much fun and enticing.

About the Author

J.R. Ward is the number one New York Times bestselling author of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series of vampire books. She is a winner of the prestigious Romance Writers of America RITA award for Best Paranormal Romance and is a multiple RITA nominee. A graduate of Smith College, she was a double major in History and Art History with a medieval concentration in both and she still longs at times for a return to those days sitting in dark lecture halls, looking at slides of old triptychs and reliquaries. Donna review 4.5 stars

I chose this book on a whim because it takes place near where I grew up. I am glad I did. It was a delightfully fun book with quirky characters. I liked Sabrina but had a problem with her refusing to help some ghosts, and how she sometimes treated Ray. She suffered anxiety due to lifelong bullying and resenting her gift. Family sure dropped the ball in getting her help earlier in life. Ray was a dream guy. A handsome business owner who loves to cook and is sweet on so many levels. I liked his nerdy side too. His personality and patience were perfect for Sabrina, making them a lovely couple.

The base of the story is Ray trying to make his supper club a success while wooing Sabrina. Meanwhile Sabrina is trying to get her life in order and deal with ghosts needing something solved before they can pass on. All this adds a hint of mystery and fun to a tender romance. I’m still smiling from this feel-good romance.
