Under Fire

Eve Bradley was undercover looking for a story, not a cause. But something about the man they called Subject Thirteen got her involved. The scientists said he was a devil, and they had a decent case: Terrifying power. A bad attitude. And looks that could lead anyone to sin…

Cain O’Connor knows the minute he catches her candy scent that Eve could drive him wild. But she’s a threat–in a way no one has been for him in years. She’s safer away from him, too. But with a powerful conspiracy determined to shut Eve up for good, there’s no time to argue. All they can do is trust their instincts–and their hearts. . .

REVIEW:

A secret government laboratory is conducting experiments on paranormals and the paranormals aren’t there by choice. This storyline has been done quite a bit for my taste, but Burn For Me still managed to keep me on the edge of my seat and the adrenaline pumping. Eve and Cain were a well matched couple that you couldn’t help but root for and their romance was hot. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough and I even let the phone ring without answering. I also liked that secondary characters were written in such a way as to let us know there will be more stories coming. This was a well written, pulse pumping story and I can’t wait to read the next one.

Fighting Fire Is His Nature

To Dade Johnson, fire is a danger he can handle. But the blaze he feels from the moment he lays eyes–and hands, and mouth–on Sarah Jo is too hot to handle. Something about the free-spirited camp cook has him throwing caution to the wind. Little does the hotshots’ second-in-command know he’s cozying up with a suspected arsonist……

She Can’t Help Fanning The Flames

Sarah Jo knows she should steer clear of Dade. A bona fide hero who battles wildland fires every day deserves better than a woman on the run. But their five-alarm attraction has Sarah Jo too weak in the knees to resist playing with fire–until her past catches up with her. Soon, she’ll have to choose between surrendering her secrets–or taking them both down in flames. . ..

REVIEW:

This new Hotshot story had me grinning in anticipation from the start. I enjoy the camaraderie and loyalty of the Hot Shots and how they band together when danger comes and there is just enough wild fire reference to bring you into their world. The romance between Sarah and Dade was smoking hot and the story line of her dangerous past kept me anxiously turning the pages. A fun quick read. I can’t wait for the next one.

BOOK DESCRIPTION:

Free-spirited artist Harper McGee is happy to go wherever the wind takes her…until her flight pattern sends her back to Brentsville, New York for her beloved grandmother’s funeral. Harper’s grief turns to shock, however, when she discovers her grandmother has named her sole proprietor of her candy shop, Luscious. But she has no intention of being anchored to one place, and anyway, she doesn’t know the first thing about running a kitchen or a business. Selling Luscious is the only viable option— until the shop catches fire due to old wiring. Fixing the damage requires major work, and if Harper wants to put it on the market, she needs major help.

Thrill-seeking firefighter Aaron Fisher has never walked away from a challenge or a friend. So when a fellow firefighter is hurt on a call and can’t complete a side job for his contracting company, Aaron’s quick to jump in. He’s done plenty of fix ‘er ups for his buddy in the past, and despite his silver spoon upbringing and his no-holds-barred attitude, swinging a hammer suits Aaron just fine. That is, until he discovers the client is the same impetuous woman he forcibly dragged from the flames of Brentsville’s local candy shop.

The more time Harper and Aaron spend at Luscious, the hotter their attraction burns, daring them both to shed their tough outer layers to reveal the tender desires beneath. But when a buyer makes Harper the offer of a lifetime, she must choose between roots and wings. Can two people who live in the moment learn to see past the moment, or will Aaron and Harper always live their lives pushing the line?

REVIEW:

This was a fun little story of Harper coming home and how Aaron helped her see where she belonged. The author showed their instant attraction grow into a friendship that of course blossomed into a heated romance. This was a feel-good story that I enjoyed. Ms. Kincaid’s writing is always smooth and the food themes always make me hungry. This time for candy. It was a nice addition to The Line Series and I was glad to see all of them together once again.

BOOK DESCRIPTION:

Trained to kill, but built for love…

Captain Morgan Boland is at the top of her game, as is her former lover, Navy SEAL Jake Ramsey. Then a military computer selects them to partner in a special op. The mission can’t be compromised by their personal history—and they have truckloads of it.

But the Afghan assignment might provide the discipline they need to finally get it together—outside the bedroom, that is. A lot has happened over the two years since they last went their separate ways. And there’s way more to Morgan than Jake has ever given her credit for….

REVIEW:

If you like special ops romances heavy on the military action, then this is one to read. I thought the author did a good job of bringing us up to speed on their history together and how they overcome their obstacles. Morgan is a strong capable black-ops soldier but is able to show her softer side. I liked that but there were some things about her actions that I couldn’t warm up to for a while. Jake’s opinion of women in combat made my teeth clench but that was true to real life and I liked him immediately in spite of it. This was an action packed story showing how two people mature and how time helps you realize what is important

BOOK DESCRIPTION:

WHERE DARK LYCAN ENDED, DARK WOLF BEGINS…

BOOK NUMBER 25 IN CHRISTINE FEEHAN’S ACCLAIMED CARPATHIAN SERIES

#1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan now delivers her most eagerly awaited novel of all—ten years in the making—in the “the erotic, gripping series that has defined an entire genre” (J. R. Ward).

In Dark Lycan, Christine Feehan journeyed into the heart of the Carpathians, and into the souls of two lifemates stirred by the flush of passion and the threat of annihilation. In Dark Wolf, the breathtaking story continues as the bonds of family are imperiled, and the fate of two lovers lies hidden in the seductive shadows between life and death.

Skyler Daratrazanoff always recognized the miracle that was Dimitri Tirunul, a man beyond any dream that had ever engaged her nights. But she was human. Vulnerable. He was Carpathian. Nearly immortal. She was nineteen. He was an ancient. Yet she held half his soul, the light to his darkness. Without her, he would not survive. Caught between the two warring species, Dimitri has spent centuries hunting the undead to keep his people free, and humans safe. He had survived honorably when others had chosen to give up their souls. But now, marked for extermination by the Lycans, Dimitri found himself alone, and fearing for his life. But salvation was coming…

No Lycan would ever suspect someone like Skyler to dare mount a secret rescue operation. A teenage girl. A human of untested abilities. But she had something no one else had. She was predestined for Dimitri—as he was for her. And there was nothing stronger for Skyler than her desire to see her life-dream come true. Whatever the risk.

INCLUDES A PREVIEW OF CHRISTINE FEEHAN’S NEXT CARPATHIAN NOVEL, DARK BLOOD

REVIEW:

This smoking hot paranormal romance had all the aspects of the Carpathian novels we have grown to love. The danger and intrigue at times left me breathless, but that was tempered well with the love and friendship loaded on the pages. This story also had a fun group of friends that I believed had been together for years. I enjoyed Skyler’s strength and determination that was clearly shown without ever losing her softness. Dimitri was perfect for her and the romance flowed smoothly. All in all a well written story that was very hard to put down and I am still lost in their world.

DESCRIPTION:
As a mercenary, Leo Alvarez has signed on for a lot—but he never signed on for his best friend becoming host to the soul of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh. Jackson is now inhabited by a Bodywalker, and Leo is forced to grapple with a realm of supernatural beings far more dangerous than anything he’s ever encountered.

But when Jackson is wounded by an attack from a demon god, Leo must team up with another supernatural creature—a Night Angel—to save his friend from utter destruction. With skin as black as midnight, hair as white as snow, and a body of pure perfection, the Night Angel arouses a burning desire in Leo, even as he refuses to be intimidated by her power—or the power of those who would destroy his friend. An unusual alliance is forged, electrified by sexual temptation, and together the two must unite their strengths to bring down a supreme evil.

REVIEW:
I loved this installment of the Nightwalker series. Leo, vulnerable, but with the strength and courage that makes a girl swoon and Faith with a tender caring heart along with the soul of a warrior. I am enjoying the Egyptian theme that also combines various other paranormal references. It had it all: Suspense, danger, excitement, lust, humor and of course hot romance. I would have scored it a 5, but Leo protected his heart a few pages too long for me. Ms. Frank knows how to reel a reader in and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.

REVIEW:
A lovely little story about love, longing and family. The story was well written and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to see how things worked out for Zack and Elena. I liked them both immediately and also felt like I was a part of the family. The author built the romantic tension up nicely to a very satisfying conclusion. A great Christmas story that left me smiling.

REVIEW:
A quick read although one spot almost got a little dry with politics, the author managed to add enough intrigue and romantic suspense to keep it flowing and the pages turning. It was a fun little story to tie in with the first book in the series, Race to Kill and the love story was very satisfying.

BOOK DESCRIPTION:

The Kelly Group International (KGI): A super-elite, top secret, family-run business.

Qualifications: High intelligence, rock-hard body, military background.

Mission: Hostage/kidnap victim recovery. Intelligence gathering. Handling jobs the U.S. government can’t…

Over the years, Donovan Kelly has fought relentlessly for justice, women and children always holding a special place in his heart. Working side by side with his brothers, Donovan has witnessed firsthand the toll it’s taken—physically, mentally, and emotionally—on his loved ones, and the innocent lives caught in the crossfire. What he never expects is for his next mission to happen right on his home turf—or for it to take a very personal turn.

Picturesque Kentucky Lake is the perfect place for a soul in search of safe harbor. A beautiful stranger has arrived—desperate, breathless, and on the run from a dark past closing in on her and the younger siblings she has vowed to protect. Donovan must now draw on every resource at his disposal—if he wants to save a woman and the children who may prove to be his destiny.

REVIEW:

I have been looking forward to this installment of the KGI series. I love Donovan and wondered what kind of a woman would snag him. Eve did not disappoint. She was a desperate woman in danger and in need of the help only the Kelly’s could give. I love the way the KGI group rallies behind each other and overcomes all obstacles. Their loyalty and fun banter is always enjoyable. The romance started tender and soon steamed up quite nicely. I like how it wove seamlessly in with the danger and tension. I could not put this book down and read it in one sitting. The only bad part about reading this book is now I have to wait for the next one.

Curl up with this heartwarming Christmas collection!

Jill Shalvis, Dream a Little Dream: Melissa has kept every man at a safe distance-especially firefighter Ian, a sexy friend with sexy benefits. But Ian secretly longs for more. Luckily, ’tis the season for giving love a chance . . .

REVIEW: A cute little feel-good story. Although predictable, it still made me go all teary-eyed one moment and smile the next. I enjoyed this quick read with its steamy romance.

Kristen Ashley, Every Year: Holidays don’t come easy for Shy and his brother, Landon. But with the magic of Christmas, along with a little help from Tabby and her family, the Cage brothers are about to get the gift of a lifetime . . .

REVIEW: This lovely story was about 24 hours of a CHAOS family Christmas. For those who have read the books, it is Shy and Lan’s first happy family Christmas since they were children. The story was warm, heartfelt and still packed in some hot romance. I loved it.

Hope Ramsay, Silent Night: Down on her luck and evicted from her apartment, single mother Maryanne hopes to start over in Last Chance. When the snow begins to fall, it looks like her baby might literally spend Christmas Eve in a manger. And Maryanne might celebrate the holiday with a handsome stranger.

REVIEW: This was a rather melancholy story with a happy hopeful ending. If you like stories about fate and destiny, then you will like reading how they found not only each other on Christmas Eve but that dreams do come true.

Molly Cannon, Have Yourself a Messy Little Christmas: Lincoln is a bachelor who’s set in his ways-until a professional organizer dressed up as Mrs. Claus changes his life, one tip at a time. . .

REVIEW: This was a cute little story showing how opposites do attract. I liked it, but wish the characters were more developed.

Marilyn Pappano, A Family for Christmas: War widow Ilena doesn’t mind spending Christmas alone. But when a new doctor blows into town with the winter wind, will she get her secret Christmas wish?

REVIEW: This was one of those little romances that make you go awww and leaves you smiling.

NOTE: Each author also added an excerpt from their upcoming novels. They were a nice little peek into what is coming.
