“You currently have 4.3 million dollars in your account at your disposal Ms. Adams, why do you ask?” a young gentleman in his early thirties, dressed in a suit, looking every bit the bank manager that he is, informs me the next morning.

I’m still trying to wrap my head around the whole situation, but I do know one thing for sure, I wasn’t letting Bill get another dollar anytime soon.

I’m very sleep deprived, since I didn’t get much of it last night. I kept going over everything that had happened. It kept me tossing and turning in my bed, my thoughts going back to Matt.

I look the manager in the eye. “I need two thousand of it in cash for myself.”

Then I hand a small piece of paper with Frank’s requested amount and account number over to him. “This amount put into that account number.” After he takes the first small paper, I hand him another with Matt’s account number. “The rest is to be transferred into this account number. Both of which are current accounts here at your facility.”

Eyes wide open, he asks, “What do you mean by the rest, ma’am?” I had a feeling this would happen and was prepared for it.

With a strong stern voice, I say emphatically, “I. Mean. All. Of. What’s. Left,” indicating just how serious I am.

With a horrified look on his face, unbelieving what he’s heard, he protests, “But, that would mean emptying out your account completely, ma’am.” His response is just as shocked, as I’m staring him down.

I have a feeling he’s going to play this game with me all morning if I let him.“I know. I’m looking at it as a very generous donation to someone who really needs it. It’s only money,” I say, trying to sound like I don’t care. “I’m pretty sure with my fiancé being my manager, there will be plenty more to fill it up again soon,” I say with a sarcastic smile on my face.

He still looks skeptical, but easily gives up.

“Okay,” he states with an apprehensive look, and tries to hold himself together as well as he can. “I’ll get the documentation for you to sign, authorizing the transfer.”

He quickly stands up and heads to his office door. Once he’s left his office, I dig into my purse for my phone and I shoot off a text to Matt.

I need a favor. A

After a minute, I receive a response.

What’s up? M

I’m going to put some money in your account for safekeeping. A

Why my account? M

I need someone I could trust, is that you? A

He doesn’t respond immediately, and I’m sitting there thinking maybe this might be a bad idea after all. But, then I hear the ping of a response.

Of course, Pinkie Promise. M

That’s when I blank out and I’m suddenly pulled into another memory. I’m sitting on a bed in a little boy’s room and there is a small child sitting across from me on the bed. It’s Matt, his eyes are red and swollen, like he’s been crying for a while, and he’s looking at me with desperation on his face.

I tell him, “Everything is going to be all right, I’m here now and I’m never leaving you.”

He stares into my eyes and says, “Promise?”

My response to him, without a doubt is, “Pinkie Promise.” Holding out my pinkie and locking it with his, I hug him with a force promising not to let go.

I hear the ping of my phone again, breaking me from the memory, pulling me back to reality. Why is it that I get these memories like that, randomly? I’m beginning to appreciate when I was dreaming them, at least I didn’t spaz out like just did.

You still there? M

Yes. I’m still here, Pinkie Promise. A

Do you need my bank info? M

No, I already have it. A

How the hell did you get it? M

The same guy who gave me your address. 😉 A

Scent of a Mate by Milly Taiden

Book Description:

Mission: Scent a Mate

Jordan Alvarez knew that a promise to her best friend involved staking out the local wolf pack’s scenting ceremony and recording the graphic details, but she was the writer and the only one with the balls to finish the task. No one would know that four human women had sneaked proof of their rituals, or at least, that was the plan until Aric Wolfe showed up.

Mission: Stake a Claim

Aric Wolfe knew his baby sister was up to something, and expected her best friend, Jordan, to be in on the chaos. He finally had an opportunity to lay claim to a mate that had been under his nose for years. Jordan’s scent called to both the man and the animal, and he was done fighting the call of the beast. It was time to mark his mate.

Mission: Survive an Alpha

When a good intention creates a problem for the Wolfe family, Jordan finds herself being stalked by a woman intent on claiming Aric as her own. Battle lines will be drawn, love will be put to the test, and Aric will have to fight Jordan’s strong personality to keep her alive. Two alpha hearts seeking control will either find the balance or risk losing their love forever.

Excerpt
“Sounds like the perfect date.” She snickered and almost choked on her wine.
“This is why I didn’t want you there. You, Emma, Nicole, and Karla are so going to get caught.”
“We won’t! We won’t. We’ll be super–spy, research ninjas. Quiet, but sexy smart.” She grinned.
“Oh brother,” Ellie groaned.
“Speaking of brothers. Are, um, your brothers going to be there?” What she really wanted to ask was if one particular brother was going to be there. God, she hoped not. The first time she’d seen Aric Wolfe, she’d been a thirteen-year-old with a crush the size of Alaska. One look was all it took, and her poor teenage heart had been in puppy-love for years. And though it’d been a crush for a long time, it had never gone away. In fact, with years, it had grown. She’d tried to date other men and rid herself of the idea that he’d ever look at a non-shifter for more than a friendship, but it was useless. With time, her attraction for him had grown deeper, into something she didn’t want to think too much about or it would make her hyperventilate.
Blue sparkles lit in Ellie’s eyes. “Yes, all my brothers will be there.”
Oh hell. “Then, yeah, I will hide off somewhere and never move a muscle. I promise.”
Ellie’s laughter, filled with unabashed delight, made her smile. “I still don’t understand why you’re so afraid of being around them.”
Yeah well, Jordan knew all about that super smelling-power shifters had. The last thing she wanted was for Aric to know how one glance at his body and those damn sexy muscles got her so turned on she’d likely start a fire. She could probably melt butter on her skin. “I think it’s best to keep my distance. I know your parents weren’t fond of their only daughter hanging with so many humans.”
Ellie shrugged. “It was either send me to regular school, or deal with packs of horny wolves hitting on their baby girl.” She grinned, grabbed her glass of wine, and sipped. “They knew humans don’t have our scenting or go into heat, so they decided to take the chance.”
Jordan drank her own wine, letting the fruity flavor slip and slide over her tongue. “Yeah, but I bet they didn’t think you’d end up bringing home an annoying, fat Latina for your new pet.”
Ellie rolled her eyes. “Who’s the wolf here, you or me?”
Good point. Ellie’s parents had cared for Jordan. A lot more than Jordan herself could ever understand. Even after all those years being so close to them and Ellie, she still couldn’t make any sense of why they done so much when her parents hadn’t cared at all. What was it about them that made them different? And there had to be some resentment in there. They’d practically adopted her.
“Alright. I’ve become like a second daughter since we became friends. That has to be annoying for them. I mean if they wanted more kids, they’d have had more the old fashioned way.”
Jordan found the whole shifter community absolutely fascinating. If it were up to her, she’d be all in their business trying to figure out how the whole animal-human thing worked.
“Why would you say they’d be annoyed by you?” Ellie’s face creased in a frown. “They like you. Heck, they love you more than any of their sons’ previous girlfriends. In fact, they like you more than most family we have. You’ve grown on them.”
Jordan snorted. “Yeah like fungus or a rash.”
“No, not like that. Like an unusual but lovely woman who needs a mate.”
“What?” She spit out the wine she’d had in her mouth. “Who said I needed a mate?”

REVIEW

I loved this book! It drew me in from the first chapter and I couldn’t put it down until I turned the last page, other than to send teasers to my Facebook page. I loved the characters. Their story was an emotional roller coaster ride for me. Everyone sees Nora as the perfect, innocent, rich girl, but she has scars and things she hides from the world. When Leo meets Nora they have an instant connection. Their story makes the reader believe in soul mates and destiny. A beautiful love story with hot and steamy romance. Loved it and can not wait to find out who will star in the next Briarcrest Academy book.

20130724-173605.jpg

Blurb:
A fresh, meaty, sink-your-teeth-in-and-hold-on-tight new adult fantasy series kicks off with King Hall…

King Hall — where the Mysticals go to learn their craft, get their degrees, and transition into adulthood. And where four new Rulers will rise and meet their destinies.

Lily Ruckler is adept at one thing: survival. Born a Mystical hybrid, her mere existence is forbidden, but her nightmare is only about to start. Fluke, happenstance, and a deep personal loss finds Lily deeply entrenched with those who would destroy her simply for existing — The Mystical Kings. Being named future Queen of the Shifters shoves Lily into the spotlight, making her one of the most visible Mysticals in the world. But with risk comes a certain solace — her burgeoning friendships with the other three Prodigies: a wicked Vampire, a wild-child Mage, and a playboy Elemental. Backed by their faith and trust, Lily begins to relax into her new life.

Then chaos erupts as the fragile peace between Commoners and Mysticals is broken, and suddenly Lily realises the greatest threat was never from within, and her fear takes on a new name: the Revolution.

Meeting up with BE at the gondolas was a risk. Love went against everything they had promised, but the best things in life can’t be planned.

Soon Alysin will be tested.

After guarding her heart for so long, she finally let a man in and discovered that the worst things in life happened when she least expected them. When she walked in on BE with another woman and overheard their heated conversation, she suddenly remembered there was a reason she made these rules.

Will broken rules lead to broken hearts or will she realize that though love was a gamble, she was all in?

PLAYING THE PART Release Week Event

I love movies. I love movie stars. I love romance novels.

In my latest release, PLAYING THE PART, I got to combine all three and set the book in L.A., a private estate in Hawaii, and in NYC. My story took place on movie sets, glamorous premieres, and the Oscars.

And I got to write about the action-movie star voted the Sexiest Man Alive for the past two years: Mick Blackwell. He’s a sexy, intriguing playboy who loves to break the rules. But he’s met his match in Piper James — a sassy romance novelist who decides that Mick is just what she needs to spice up her short visit to L.A.

I loved writing this book.

Early reviews for PtP have been amazing. NYT and USAToday Bestselling author Gina L. Maxwell said, “PLAYING THE PART blew me away with it’s great characters, fast pace, and enough heat to warrant more than a few cold showers. Mick and Piper complement each other perfectly and make the reader root for them from Page 1. Robin’s writing is tight and engaging and she nailed her characters. Definitely one of my favorite reads of 2013.”

To celebrate the release, I’m giving away 11 packs full of awesome! The prize pack includes: A movie (either a Mick Blackwell action movie or a Piper James romance-my choice), popcorn, movie candy, and Robin Covington SWAG.

And . . . one lucky winner will get a prize pack and a $50 Amazon gift card!

I will pick the winners on Friday, June 20, 2013 at midnight EST.

So what do you have to do to win here? Just – use the rafflecopter widget below and you will be entered to win! You can enter at each stop to increase your chances.

About Playing the Part:
The harder they play . . . the harder they fall.

After publicly self-destructing over a heartbreak a year ago, bestselling romance writer Piper James is now making nice with her publisher by agreeing to teach Hollywood’s favorite action star how to act like he’s in love. Only playboy Mick Blackwell has no clue what love looks like.
When a seductive heat ignites between Piper and Mick, she jumps at the chance for a bit of fun between the sheets, but with two stipulations: she’s kept out of the public eye and things end when she returns to New York. Only Mick keeps changing the rules on her. Tempted by America’s favorite bad boy, Piper is wondering how far she’s willing to bend…

20130608-143544.jpg

Playing the Part Excerpt
“I have a dilemma,” he said. His voice was deep and measured but edged with the rough finish that made him a dream to listen to in surround sound. Piper swore she saw a jolt of fire in the mossy green depths of his eyes as he moved even closer.
Whoa. Mick Blackwell was hitting on her. And her body was responding like an addict who’d suddenly stumbled upon a pile of their favorite dope. He might be off-limits, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t indulge a little.
“What is your dilemma?” She mirrored his movement, deliberately stepping closer to the high voltage area of his body. Damn, he was like a sexual magnet, the black hole of hotness dragging her down.
He nodded. “I don’t know whether to call security or to get your phone number.” His expression shifted slightly, the twist in his smile even sexier—if that were even possible.
Oh, sweet sugar.
Mick moved in a half step closer, and heat swept over her skin, settling in her most intimate places. He was man every woman wanted in spite of his playboy reputation. Or maybe because of it. She loved men who came with a warning label. And Mick Blackwell didn’t just have a label—he had a neon “Flammable. Do not touch” sign flashing over his head.
But she couldn’t let a guy like him think he had the upper hand. Where was the fun in that?
“Maybe I should call security on you.” Piper licked her lips, delighting in the way his pupils dilated as he watched the movement of her tongue.
He let out a laugh, flashing a bit of his perfect, white teeth. Apparently, Mr. Blackwell liked a challenge.
“My mama taught me not to talk to strangers or dangerous men,” she said. “I think I’m supposed to go to the nearest public area and find a member of law enforcement.”
“So I’m a stranger?” He raised a hand and traced a finger along his lower lip in what was clearly an open invitation.
God help her, she wanted to follow that path with her mouth. “Actually, I think you fall into the dangerous category.”
“You have no idea.”
Oh, yes she did.
